    What alternator do I have??

Ok, I'm pretty sure I don't have the 100 amp, because I looked in the service book and the standard has 6 rectifiers while the 100amp has 12...they have a different appearance. I still don't know what a leece neville alternator looks like though, and how to tell if I have that or just the...

Hesitation when shifting to 3rd on hard acceleration.

On a couple of occasions, I've noticed that I'm getting some kind of hesitation or power loss when shifting to 3rd gear on hard acceleration. My fuel pacer light also comes on when this occurs. I don't think the fuel pacer system actually retards the throttle does it? It comes on when I step...

    Problem with fuel vapor system

I have a 75 Fury (318) which has the fuel vapor recovery system. The gas cap is non-vented, and fuel vapors are sent from the gas tank to a charcoal canister in the engine bay. Most of you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, my system is stopped up and I'm wondering if its worth fixing it...

Which is the best oil? 10w30 or 10w40?

Looking at the owners manuals for our cars, it seems that they were meant to run on just about anything, because specific oil weights are almost never specified. I have a 1975 fury 318 with 90k original miles, all factory. I live in the south, a warm climate. My car has an old sticker...

Gas tank always sucks air when opening

My car is a 75...and yes it does have a vent line that goes to a charcoal canister. All of it (canister, hoses, etc) seems to be intact and looks good from the outside. I noticed that filters for this canister can still be purchased at rockauto. I don't know if that would help or not...or if...

Gas tank always sucks air when opening

My gas tank always sucks air hard when I open the cap. I know this will happen once in a while...but its happening a lot on my car...could this indicate a problem with the gas tank or cap? Isn't it supposed to have a way of releasing the pressure?

What is the 1975 fender tag code for sure grip rear end?

So I found that D91 is typically the correct code for sure grip...and that code was used in 1975. But if what 69coronetrt says is true, and St louis cars don't have the codes, then I'm not sure how else I can find out unless I'm lucky enough to run across the build sheet, or put the car on the...

Change or not to change, transmission fluid?

So I talked to my transmission guy he says they can change the filter and 4 quarts of fluid or run all the fluid in the transmission thru this cleansing system that is supposed to clean all 11 or 16 or so quarts that are in the transmission....or he could do both...but that gets expensive. Any...

Change or not to change, transmission fluid?

Thanks for the info.....when I let it get warm idling in neutral I get no fluid on the stick at all.....one time when I shifted into reverse it was slow to go into gear. So I added a quart of dexron. Still nowhere near the full mark after adding a quart. The car started blowing some smoke out...

Change or not to change, transmission fluid?

So I've got a fury sport that's been sitting up a few years so I'm doing the usual refresh (belts, hose replacement, etc.). I'm wondering if I should change the transmission fluid and filter? I've always heard some people say "don't touch it..leave it alone unless you have a problem...changing...

What is the 1975 fender tag code for sure grip rear end?

I've got a 1975 Fury Sport...previous owner says he thought it had sure grip. What codes indicate sure grip and axle ratio in these 1975 models? I've seen codes for earlier years...but cannot find confirmation for 1975. thanks, DB

Could fan belts be this hard?

I've been trying to order a set of fan belts for my 318 on my 1975 fury (2 door, with AC). I've gone to three parts stores and they are confused an unable to verify which ones I need. There are three belts needed...two that go around the AC and alternator and one that goes down below around the...

    Possible transmission issue?

I have a 77 cordoba w/ 400 V8. When driving slowly around my neighborhood, it seems to rev briefly before switching to 3rd gear. So far, I haven't noticed this when I'm accelerating harder on the open road. It only seems to happen when I'm accelerating very slowly from a dead stop. the...
