Actually they pump up to much leaving valves open a little, so no compression, engine dies. All good now tho.. PRHeads hit the nail on the head. His description was very similar to my symptoms.

Yes, on the engine and in the car,. very tuff. I'm using this generic summit spring tool which doesn't work very good. I may have to get a better one before I can finish this job. Anyone know of a good one?

It is a tad bigger but the stock ones had a little wiggle room as well. I think everything was stock on this motor. I'm going for it! Seems ok to me. This motor is no hi dollar investment so no big deal if if blows.

The motor runs very good from a nice idle up thru the gears till hi rpm, which makes think cam timing should be ok, also I put new chain and gears on and made sure cam timing was good about a year ago... I got a new set of valve springs and hope to put them on this weekend.
