    Homemade Big brakes?

There's a guy that sold brackets that adapted 2012-era Mustang GT front and rear brakes over on dodgecharger.com to stock drum spindles and at least the 8.57 rear end. He wasn't asking crazy money for them at the time. They work for the normal 13.2" Mustang GT brakes, or can be used with the...

Lowering rear end - what's the proper way?

Thanks everyone for the ideas and feedback. I'll give 1-1/2" lowering blocks a try.

Lowering rear end - what's the proper way?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm running stock leafs with caltracs traction bars.

Lowering rear end - what's the proper way?

I currently have all stock components in the rear of my 68 Charger plus Caltracs (they were on when I bought the car, probably don't help anything, but I don't mind the look, so they stayed) and I'm looking to lower the rear 1"-2". I've read you can flip the front spring hangers, get the...

Members with 4 wheel disc systems.....Can you get the tires to skid?

I just started digging into this thread, so apologies if I miss a few things. I had a 1-1/8" MC with hydroboost, had issues with the HB booster, removed it and went to a 7/8" bore to use for manual brakes. Braking performance is still not what I would call inspiring, but it is acceptable for...

    Hydro-boost questions (looking for data)

I had HB on my car for a while until the HB unit failed. It was by Tallon. They went out of business a couple years after I bought the kit. It looked just like the GM/Astro unit just with their custom mounting plate. I ran it with 13.2" 2-piston front and 11.8" discs in the rear (2010...

    70 Charger front end rebuild

The clips are at the rear of the bars (inside the hex socket) to keep them from walking out rearwards. Mine were thin wire, not really 'proper' spring clips. Once I had the car up on stands, wheels removed, adjusters backed off, and the LCA pivot nuts loosened, they weren't too bad to remove...

PS pump and gearbox extremely hot

Hydroboost was definitely acting up, but even with it removed I was still seeing temps over 260 at the gearbox. I installed a small Derale cooler in front of the radiator and it runs around 140f now. Derale 13200 Power Steering... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006HNM66?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

PS pump and gearbox extremely hot

I plan to install a cooler if needed but with the amount of driving I’ve done so far I really can’t explain why it got so hot so fast. I removed the hydroboost last night and will take it for a drive later today and see if anything has changed.

PS pump and gearbox extremely hot

Thanks for the troubleshooting help. A little bit of background. Original setup: - Hydroboost from Tallon Hydraulics - Wilwood MC - Federal PS pump - Firm-feel rebuilt PS box The original setup on the car worked well. Good power assist with the steering and brakes, but some vagueness in...

PS pump and gearbox extremely hot

Yea it's definitely strange. No noise, no obvious bubbles that I can see. Good suggestion to check for blockage, I'll take it apart and see what I find.

PS pump and gearbox extremely hot

1968 Charger, Borgeson PS gearbox, hydroboost w/ Wilwood MC and a recently rebuilt (under 250 miles) Federal pump. Everything works fine when warming up/cold, but once up to temp I'm getting some very bizarre behavior. When cold, lots of power assist to the brakes, but when warm the power...

Source for front hubs for drum spindles?

Looking for replacement hubs for front drum spindles, a couple of the studs on mine are working loose. I see dr. diff has some billet ones for $300, but I'm more interested in stock replacements. Is there a good source for these or should I be looking for used take-offs?

    Strut bar bushings???ARGGHHHHH

QA1 makes one with a solid aluminum end. Not the cheapest solution, I’ll admit. ;)

Which valves are needed on this wilwood brake setup?

You can run a proportioning valve to adjust front/rear bias but no other valves should be required.

    Manual to Power steering

There are several options for rebuilds. Steer & Gear and Firm Feel are 2 companies that have good reputations and come up often. They can do stock rebuilds or tune them up for a firmer and more direct feel. I think rebuilds are in the $400 range and usually have a bit of a wait, I think I...

Take a look at this, and offer opinions or ask questions. Steering shaft modification.

I just went through this conversion on my steering column, though mine is round, not the double-D style. The gearbox has a groove in the splined shaft that accepts the set screw, so unless the set screw backs out 2-3 full turns, the u-joint isn't going anywhere. Some loctite or it looks like...

    Old drums/spindles

I wouldn't mind having a spare set of spindles around as my disc kit uses the drum spindles. You'd probably find a few others interested in them if you posted in the for sale section.

borgeson install -what am i in for?

I have all the parts and will be tackling this when I reassemble my car. I also have the QA1 K-member but the engine is out of the car. I did install the steering box and ran into a small problem. The ears on the Borgeson box where the bolts go through are thinner than the unit I replaced...
