You can argue the point all you want BUT when bushings wear out you replace them. But when the pins wear the bores out they have to be enlarged for new pins. Which is easier - popping in new bushings or boring the holes (with an oddball carbide bit I might add !!
I have to laugh when I read comments like "if they were meant to have bushings the factory would have used them" and " the bushings will wear out". The simple fact is that since the earliest mass production the manufacturers have always sought the least expensive way to make things last till...
I recently built a "test stand". Since its "universal" I made a separate fixture to fit a k-member. Since I want to minimize any damage to a painted or powder coated k-member I made it so the K rests where two of the frame bolts would go.
The stock skid plates only benefit you if you have a stock "hemi" pan. Anything like a deepened Milodon pan and they're useless - they aren't deep enough.
FURTHERMORE, what do you hope to gain from the plate? It will only benefit you if you do a huge wheelie and come crashing down on the...
The bushing can still be seen in the end cover.
The up "armature rebuilders" or "electric motor rebuilders" - those guys can probably handle the armature - not sure about the field coils but its worth asking.
I'll be doing mine shortly. I was thinking of mounting the filter housing to the side of the frame rail right behind the rad support (below the battery). I definitely want the filters hanging down and I don't want them any higher than stock (or they'll possibly drain back)
I was called to do a segment for "Carnival Eats". a) they want a "gimmick" and b) a day to shoot a 5 minute segment. I normally had 1/2 to 1-1/2 hour lineups for my product at $300/hr revenue. Yeah, like I'm gonna give that up for a day for 5 minutes of fame !!
Well if you had spent an extra ten seconds on the problem you wouldn't have wasted a lot of people's time. And for future reference: righty tighty, lefty loosy. Hope that helps !!
If the engine was run for 1/2 hour we can pretty much assume there are no plugs missing - particularly the one at the rear which would be leaving a nice puddle on the floor !!!
Oil is often drained out of a new engine after breakin. Are you sure there's oil in the pan. The oil on the rockers may be left over from the dyno runs.
This is nonsense. If the bushing pressed into both pieces then the pin basically serves no purpose.
IF rebuilding with bushings, the bushings go in the inner piece. The two hinge parts go together. The pin goes through the two hinge pieces. The pin has a knurl close to the head to lock it into...
