Ditto on contacting Don there at 4-seconds flat, they build some great stuff, its all American made (he checks extensively) and they stand behind their stuff!
I did assemble the motor with the intentions of using nitrous. I gapped my rings accordingly and put my compression where it should work with or without the bottle well, I hope. I also have an adjustable timing control for when the bottle is squeezed onto the motor. I have a good fuel system for...
I'm looking for suggestions for spark plugs for my warmed up 30 over 440. It will be in a '66 belvedere running on the street on pump gas. It does have forged pistons, closed chamber heads with approx 9.7-1 comp. This motor is nothing extravagant and has a bunch of speed parts I had lying around...
We've found that getting a used motor and cleaning up with maybe some minor new parts seem to be more reliable and a better buy than the rebuilds around here with warranties, went that route a few times and ended up regretting it. Usually 318s are pretty reasonably priced and aren't that...
Looks like you are getting good advice, as usual from this site.
I also am one to piece things together with used parts when I can. I am sticking in a 440 into my Belvedere that I bought a used set of forged pistons for. There was light scrapes on the skirts like yours and a small imperfections...
I have a FBO disributor and I'm reinstalling it on a 440 build I'm doing. Thing works great and looks like a MP electronic distributor. Don at FBO said these things are stable past the 9 thousand range.
My buddy that I ran around with and street raced (oops, did I say that out loud?) for years ran a 413 in his '64 sport fury. Always ran HARD and respectable.
In Oregon I know of a few shops and they have the rivits. They say they have them legally so that they can remove the vin tags, restore the dashes and reinstall. I know this leaves a door wide open, just saying what they have told me.
If this is the same car I think it is (in post # 13), I saw it for sale from previous owner for only $1200!!!! Claimed it was a barn find and it sold FAST! Duhh, buckets & console was worth it for that price.
Last one I ordered I went through Don at FBO (4secondsflat.com). We were doing a few things together and he has him on his speed dial.
I can see if I still have his # though.
Well you can always call up old Racer Brown, he'll custom grind whatever you want and is still very reasonable and trustworthy. Heck, he did a lot of the original Mopar cams back in the 60's and 70's for the factory racecars. I've had good luck with him.
Its saved a lot of headaches for me and helped a lot of friend's too. This is a good way to measure how big of tires will fit in wheelwells. You can take multiple measurements at same time (edge of fender lip, edge of springs and frame, face of drum or disk) and have a nice little map on your...
I do a lot of layout and measuring of things at work that aren't able to be measured conventionally so 1 way I could suggest measuring while axle is assembled is to set it on top of couple jack stands or even if the axle is still in car with wheels off. I either use a laser-bob (a box that...
We've done the chain thing in the past but then my buddy had he make him some mounts out or a set of old ones by welding plates on the sides and connecting the top and bottom plates together, man I didn't like it because it made them solid but he was happy. I had made some others that had a...
But the bulbs for the running lights and turn signals were a plug and play. They are Led/Smd bulbs. Cheap on e-bay also if you search. And LOTS brighter!
