If you can get some, "Master's Metallic Compound" works great. I use it to install all of my exhaust systems. Seals, but will allow easy removal in the future. Masters® Metallic Compound | Oatey
Here are some photos of the Gardner system installed on my Hemi Charger. I will say it fit better than the NOS system that I pieced together from Ma Mopar 40 years ago. Note, I did not use Gardner's tips as I still had a couple of NOS sets.
Stucat, I believe that this would be the same system...
When I was ordering the exhaust for my Charger I looked at ECS. Quality components for sure. However they did not list the resonators for the '69 hemi cars, so that didn't work for me. I just checked on their website now, and they still only list E body resonators.
I just installed a Gardner complete system on my Hemi Charger R/T last year. Quite happy with it. It was a toss up between them and Accurate. Accurate being on the left coast made their shipping quite pricey for me. Gardner is based in NY State.
No gasket on a Hemi as mentioned. I use a bit of "Master's Metallic" pipe sealant on mine. Not sure if you can get that in the US though. https://www.nee.ca/images/GFT_CP250BT.pdf
Yes shipping is a show stopper. That is why I indicated it must be picked up. The cost of shipping is the reason I went with a Gardner system instead of Accurate. Gardner being in Upstate New York was much closer for me.
I'll post this here before in the For Sale section, depending on responses. I have just replaced the complete exhaust system on my Charger R/T after nearly 40 years. All components were original NOS pieces. The H pipe is actually in really good condition, solid with surface rust only. When I...
Update. I found out that those are "Marsden" nuts. A type of lock nut that does not tighten on the bolt until torqued against the mating surface. This is what had me confused. They appeared to be a lock nut but spin freely onto the bolt. I thought they were defective. Not so.
Today's project...
Does anyone know if the factory manifold to H-Pipe bolt up uses lock nuts? I have a reproduction set that includes castellated nuts, however they are not crimped to lock on the bolts. Anyone know the correct orientation? It is possible that the castellated side of the nut is placed toward the...
Loctite 510. High Temp flange sealant. Works on sealing threads as well.
"If you own a Harley Davidson that doesn't leak, you are well versed in the Loctite catalog."
Thanks for the replies so far. Let me clarify my needs. Since my Charger is a numbers matching older restoration, although I do drive it, I am looking for an OEM correct reproduction exhaust system, including the resonators in the tailpipes. The system that is currently on my car is all factory...
To put the "Economic Recovery Pandemic Check" to good use, I am looking for a complete reproduction B body Hemi exhaust system for my Charger R/T. The current compilation of oem components is nearing "end of life" at nearly 40 years old. Looking for members experiences with certain systems...
