For my ‘64 I sourced a ‘65 housing and pieced together the bigger brakes. Then had Dr Diff build a new 489 center and axles. That was about 10yrs ago. Back then when it was all added up, it was almost the same cost as a new S60. One reason I stayed with the 8.75 and upgraded the axles was to...
You’re right about that. I’m already contemplating potential mods to the engine mounts and/or k-member. I’m also going with a manual transmission so eliminating the SRV shouldn’t have too big of an impact, but hopefully I can keep it.
Interesting, I wouldn’t have thought that. It seems counterintuitive that the 66-70 k-member would move the engine forward because when used with the original motors, they were moved rearward.
Thanks for the info.
I’m planning a swap for my ‘64 Belvedere. Everything I’ve found points to no interference issues with the SRV, but it does look tight. Would be curious to know what answers you’ve come up with.
I used this as a reference when mocking up my motor for my 64. Lists all the individual brackets and where they are attached. Should be able to match yours up. You can find the heat shields on the electrical page.

Wouldn't this Griffin model be more correct for your '63?

I was planning to use this one when I swap motors in my '64. Then I came across this on eBay last week. Very similar to the Griffin but...

They are also listed on ebay from time to time. I think that's were I got mine.
Yeah the 31010 pan looks like an easy fit but the 7-3/4" depth is a drag (pun intended). Mosher used it on some of his builds though.
Here's a couple of possible sources for pan posted above, looks and shape seem about right -...
Thanks for clearing that up. Explains all the room too.
This spring I'm swapping /6 for b motor in a '64 belvedere. This thread and the thread about fan clutches is bumming me out!
Hey Ski do you browse Moshers site? there's a lot of photos of his projects and it looks like he uses the stubby fan clutch on a few of them. May be of some help.

I found these pics poking around the nets today and thought I would post them for reference. Maybe they'll help somebody along the way.
This is a '64 Dodge with what looks like one of the many aftermarket oil pans available on eBay and elsewhere. You can tell by the gold iridium showing where...
