it's just one of several things to look at with an overheating vehicle...not the answer for every car
As for the temp...yes..you were on the warm side..close to hot...I ran the factory gauge and an aftermarket gauge and when the factory got that high it was a tad over 200 on the...
All's I did twice was remove 22 inch rad and passenger side bolts...place on new 26 inch champion aluminum rad on the drivers side bolts...mount tabs were perfect, level the rad , mark and drill where the passenger bolts go. No cutting of support as all the tubes were exposed to the opening...
miy champion already had the mount holes and a 70 roadrunner shroud fit fine...bought it new at a chrysler dealer 3 years ago..was in stock in a PA dealer and shipped to me in North tonawanda
The clutch fan is designed to work at low rpms and if not cooling in traffic...AND was before....I'd get a new clutch for it...fixed fans draw air and work all the time...clutch fans are for people who "think" they need less drag on their motor at highway speeds...I have one on my car now and it...
at idele/in traffic or running down the road ? If both....rad is suspect if after the thermostat opens..thermostat could be stuck if it overheats within 10 minutes or so of startup. On startup..watch temp gauge as it climbs and it should relax to a lower temp when it opens..if it goes directly...
no...actually a 70 RR shroud . Rad had the fittings and it worked perfect..actually the fan is too far in the shroud but my 440 stays cool anywhere/any temp of the day so I don't bother with it
I had a G coded 67 coronet with a 22 inch rad, went to 26 and it took about 20 minutes to mount the rad.(did the same on a 67 satellite) Used a new champion rad and 6 blade steel fan with shroud. Rad cost 219 and my 498 stroker ran cool
I'VE HAD SEVERAL CHAMPION RADS OVER THE YEARS AND THEY ARE THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK AND NO WARRANTY IS BETTER..Sorry...cap was locked and too lazy to go lower case
My timing is 35 advanced at 2500 rpm. I've had almost every 440 with heat issues in traffic and the only solution I have used is 7 blade steel fan with or without clutch..fan installed properly in a shroud(half in/half out, blades) and a 2 or 3 row aluminum radiator. The crossflows are ugly to me...
all's I did was remove old rad and bolts(hoses also...lol)and mounted it on the drivers side mounts...leveled it, marked the passenger side holes per the rad, drilled, mounted. Even the stock shroud lined up perfect
I went from 22 to 26 on two mopars and it was easy and the champion trans lines lined right up...did have to switch to different size line connectors though
