My hemi leaked after a total rebuild....changed the seal once with the original cap and it leaked...bought the mancini, machined 12 thou off it..installed in the car....been dry since last summer....very happy. I posted this a while back in case someone had issues...
I'd look at the power line going through the firewall up to the volt meter and back on to the alternator. The column when turned may be causing some friction along the line or resistence built up in bulk head connector
all my big blocks run a 160 stat with a 6 blade steel clutch fan, aluminum rad and shroud. On hot days ,down the road I run at 188 and it seldom goes as high as 195 in heavy traffic. On days of under 80 degrees..I might see 180 if running hard. 472 stroked hemi. I like a 160 stat so it opens...
add a leaf or two....new springs...air shocks.....I have air shocks on my 67 R/T and the ride is decent..others say bad...I'm switching to a caltrac 1 inch over system because I'm building a hemi and have a 354 dana to install replacing the 8 3/4...otherwise the air shocks were ok
it should br embossed on the driver's side of the block...from appearance...looks like a 318...all small blocks have distributors in the rear...the old hemi's..392 and down also BUT you cant't mistake the heads...all BB had distributor in front so not a 383 for sure...or 361...or 440...426
That 383 is not going to do any better than the 440. It's driving habit and gears. I had a 498 stroker with 355's and got 12 around town, staying out of it with a 950 proform carb. I currently have a mild 440 with an old edelbrock,750 and get about the same with 391's. I don't believe spending...
My solution was 7 blade steel fan with or without clutch and shroud...fan blades half in/half out of shroud...you are not pulling enough air in traffic or going slow to cool the rad
even with no vent it would run until a vacum is made. I would see if the new sending unit is clogged...then the fuel line..take the line off the carb...turn it over and see if fuel is flowing..if not flowing...then the sending unit would be my next step as that is what was changed...If My car is...
yes...even with a good alum rad,my stroker would not cool in traffic until I added a 7 blade steel fan and shroud..cooled fantastic down the road but didn't get enough air flow in traffic
