I just reinstalled the Hemi in my 68 Charger through the top and it was one of the easiest installs I've ever done. I installed it with the clutch and bell on the motor and put the 833 in from underneath.
Was installing a driveshaft loop on my Charger today and noticed that the driveshaft has 2 steps in the diameter at one end. I did not measure the diameters, but approx. 8-10" from one end it steps up, then another 8-10"it steps up again. I am wondering if there is a correct installation...

you can buy complete correct rebuild kits will all pins, bushings, springs, weights etc. or individual parts for a repair from Dynamic renovations. they even sell a bushing driver to aid in installing new shaft bushings. No reason to ruin an original manifold by welding or pipe plugging the holes.
