For about $18.00 you can rebuild the coupler.Start there 1st before you waste money on a new steering box.Next see if there is any adjustment left in the box.From your description it sounds like the steering coupler is wore out.
I buy from there,open 7 days a week.Make a order saturday and the parts are there sunday.Sell pretty much the same stuff as any of the other parts stores and are usually less expensive.
If i can do it anyone can.I did it with a 9" ford.I just cut what need out and reused the flanges.Torched the axles off slid them in with a pipe over the axles to keep them and the flanges straight and welded it back together.Ran it 3 seasons in a backhalfed drag car with no issues.
