Now that I think about it those wheel bearings could be the source of the noise. I replaced the rear end fluid and checked the gears which looked really solid. I check under the car and the u joint looks good.
Your 62 looks rad!
Looking for driver tires. I only have 420hp out of my 383 and I am putting in a 2.76 rear gear for freeway travel. I want the Mickey tires but it's a costly pill to swallow.
I was looking at Cooper Cobra website and I found this for the rear:
255/70x15
Cooper Cobra Radial G/T...
Yep! I have one in print but we let a mechanic borrow it years ago (late 1990’s) to do work on our Charger and it’s now falling apart. I’ll eventually get a new one, but in the meantime I’ll use the free versions online. I appreciate the heads up though!
The rear gears are in really nice shape the teeth look good. Ill pack the wheel bearings and replace the u joints. It has a new 340 and a rebuilt 904. The rear end was also rebuilt around 5-10 years ago. Tires are brand new so is the manual steering box I will be replacing this summer.
Gear bearings are in good shape and the drive train has been fully rebuilt by a reputable shop in Florida. It is a gear whine and it is very annoying and I would like to get rid of it before a long trip like this.

I think im ready to pull the trigger with classicair/original air (same company turns out).
I do have a question about the thermostat that comes with the kit. I don't believe the original system came with one. If so, how do I install this one (the instructions that come with the kit are vague).
Do you want driver tires, street racer tires, or look-at-me tires?
Driver tires- Cooper Cobras or equivalent mickeys. Mickey name is prettier, more money. 99%same tire, both made by Cooper (in USA too, I believe)
Street racer tires- Mickey or Hoosier drag radials, in appropriate size.
Look at...
My GTXer does not have them either. I know she's been repainted once in her life and they may have left them off(?) Ill have to check the broadcast sheet when I get home to see if it was coded with the 540.
Those were some scary times; the entire region was in a prolonged drought due to the El-something or other
weather pattern off the west coast. The forest around Gatlinburg went up like kindling, fires driven by 60mph
winds. Some folks didn't even have time to throw anything in a car and run, it...
With that style of rocker, I try to have the adjuster screw set up as follows:
Thread the adjuster all the way up into the rocker as far as it will go.
Go back down one turn……snug lock nut.
Adjust checking pushrod to just fit between lifter and rocker…….then add the desired lifter preload to...
