I ordered a turbo action 17676 valve body for my 66 transmission that is in my 68 superbee from Summit. I was informed that it wasn't available and the guy at Summit found a TCI 122400 and said it was equivalent of the 17676. So it was ordered. So after work I looked it up and it says the...
Ok guys I'm no expert and never claimed to be. But I've been trying to tune my superbee 383 fresh stock build. With an edelbrock 650 (1805). I hooked up a vacuum gauge to manifold. I've got about 5 lbs of vacuum at idle but the needle bounces back and forth wildly about a couple pounds. It ldles...
I got the bee started after an engine and transmission rebuild. It wouldn't shift out of park but eventually did. I had reverse and drive. So I shifted it back to park and it wouldn't lock into park. So I checked my linkage and tried to readjust. It has park now. But now it doesn't shift into...
Getting ready to install the intake on my 383. The gasket set came with the valley pan and two gaskets for the heads. My builder told me to use both the pan and the gaskets. I've never done that before I alway just used the pan by itself. What's your opinion. If I should use both how is it...
Picked up a 10" flex plate at a local yard. The 5/16 bolt holes for the converter seem a little larger than my original plate. My question is is that extra slop in the holes okay. Or did they use metric bolt in later years? They are also not big enough for a 7/16 bolt.
Just had my transmission rebuilt and had my 19 spline output shaft switched to a 24. Now I'm going to need a new torque converter. Car is a stock build. Not looking for a race converter. 68 SuperBee 383 3.55 gears. What do you guys think would be best for a stock rebuild weekend driver.
I have the opportunity to pick up an HD 727 out of a 69 roadrunner. My question is,is it worth buying. I now have a regular 727 in my superbee that is a 66. Can I make the 66 HD with a few parts changes or is It alright by itself. Just wondering if I'm wasting my money. Car is just a driver w...
Okay tore the heads off my 66 383. As I suspected the builder installed the wrong pistons. They are at least .45 down from the deck with 906 heads on it. So my compression ratio has been very low this whole time.engine was rebuilt in 92 it always ran well but it's more of a noise maker. I...
Many years ago when I was young and dumb my builder and I installed a set of 906 heads on a 66 383. Which I discovered years later don't match. So I have decided to rebuild them and have them milled to increase compression. I removed the intake and saw there were cracks on the head near a center...
They say if you use 69 heads which are open chamber on a 66 which are closed chamber it will lower the compression ratio. My question is what is the difference. Is it the block or the pistons. And if it's the pistons what's the difference there. And how low is it really. I've had this...
I have a 68 superbee 383 auto that I've had for 28 years
It was rebuilt in 1992. Car is just a driver. It may have about 60,000 miles on it. A couple years ago it started to backfire through the carb at cruise randomly. I've been pulling my hair out trying too figure it out. So I did a...
