I just did a 4 speed conversion on my 69 roadrunner. It was a fun project and a lot of work. Also repainted the engine bay. No way I could have done it without this forum, came here a lot during the process. Took 4 weekends total by myself.
I have a 7290 yoke that I bought from Dr. Diff. I didn't see a 7290 u joint on their website. Since then I've bought three of them, moog 316 and a couple generic ones from the parts store and none of the clips fit between the yoke grooves. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what are you using?
Does anyone own a repop brewers 10.5" bell? It's got two fork pivot locations, which one is which? I called Dan, hes busy until 1. I'm trying to get this done while I have time this morning. I need the one for a 1969 b body. Any help would be appreciated
This may be a bit lengthy but I'll do my best to explain. I've got a road runner that is mostly done being restored. Sorting out all the issues now. I noticed it's got a fast shudder or vibration above 60 mph. It has a 3:91 suregrip out of my dart, had no issues in that car. So first thing I did...
I'm new to 4 speed cars. I just bought a 4 speed and the clutch is only a few inches from the floor and I feel like it's difficult to drive at times with small pedal travel. I pulled the trans and engine today to freshen things up and I found that it's a diaphram clutch. Based on what I've read...
So I have had two different transmissions leak from the front seal on the same 440. One transmission I pulled back out and replaced the seal and it still leaks. It leaks slow at first then gets worse over time. Near as I can tell from looking at the rubber on the seal, it looks like the seal is...
I recently rebuilt my 440, engine has stealth heads, comp lifters, comp cam, and stock stamped rockers. I did the cam break in without much trouble. Drove the car for about 10 min. Parked it and all of a sudden got a bunch of valve train noise. When I run the rpms up, it stops. I pulled the...
So i recently noticed some white vapor from my passenger side exhaust. The engine is a mild 440 with true duals. I pulled the plugs and saw water on the #4 cylinder. I did a leak down test, three cylinders came back 20%, #4 was 45%. I'm planning on pulling the head off. I'm thinking it could be...
So I'm kicking around the idea of buying a complete 4 speed conversion kit from brewers. I have a mild cast crank 440. I'm almost certain the crank has never been drilled for a 4 speed. From what I've read, I would have to use a Dakota bearing and cut the shaft. Brewers told me they would prefer...
Oi pressure question: I have a freshly built 440. After the engine is at operating temp, my oil pressure is around 19-21 psi in park idling at 1000 rpms. When in gear, foot on the brake it drops to around 13 psi, 600-650 rpm Is that too low?
Temp question: Also, I have a 180 thermostat in the...
I have a Bouchillon kickdown cable on my 727/440 with holley avenger carb. I'm fairly certain I have everything installed correctly. The trans doesnt kick down unless I come to a complete stop. I currently have the valve lever completely open with full throttle on the carb. I tried it at eighth...
I'm a newb and building my 1969 coronet and have some questions. The engine is currently at the machine shop but will have the following: 74 smogger 440, cast crank, speed pro pistons at 9.4:1 cr, xe274 comp cam, stealth heads, performer rpm intake, msd, 1 3/4" headers, 6qt pan. 727 with 2400...
