On the fender tag on my 67 GTX, the numbers on the third row (1-8), there is a 5 under the 1. However, I have been unable to find any fender tag codes related to those numbers. Anyone have knowledge on those? To be honest, its the first I've seen of any numbers under those. I believe these are...
It seemed like they wanted to make a big deal out of the GTX but I've not seen much in the way of old ads/reports of the announcement. I've seen the November 66 Car and Driver review, so they likely would have tested it in September but don't recall ever seeing any press announcements.
What function did this code serve? Was this to let the line know GTX only options could be applied? I assume that the "option" was basically saying the same thing as "S" in "RS23".
although I've been planning on buying my barracuda back, I've also been keeping an eye out for a 66/67 belvedere wagon. In the process I've come across a few 67 GTXs. They range all over in price. What would be the going rate for a complete rolling example that is only in need of sheet metal?
