64 Sport Fury

64 Sport Fury, 451/4 speed/3:24 sure grip. Updated photos after paint, engine, transmission and interior.

About this Mopar:

Purchased the car three years ago from the second owner in Colorado (SteveSS did an inspection for me and did an excellent job).

Car was sold new in Colorado where it spent its entire service life. Originally a 361 automatic with a few dealer installed options. When the car arrived here in Florida it had bias tires (studded snow tires on the rear), original hub caps and snow chains in the trunk. Condition was better than expected for 51 year old car. A few parking lot dings and dents but nothing serious. Solid floors, trunk and frame rails....only a small spot of rust on the lower front fenders the size of silver dollar. Developed a plan for upgrading the car with the help and advice from a lot of members of this forum.

Upgrades and changes include removing the 361 and the automatic and replacing it with a stroked 400 (400 block/440 crank/440 rods/KB pistons) along with a 64 833 four speed. Replaced the old flanged axel rear axle assembly with a housing from a 65 Coronet and installed a sure grip 3:23 third member. Front disc brake conversion. Installed a Nostalgic Air aftermarket A/C, ran the cooling and heater lines through the fender well, placed the AC control panel in the console....worked out just fine. New carpet and seat covers from Legendary.

Painted the car myself (budget required) with a close match to the original Chestnut color using the base/clear system. Did it in sections (front fenders, hood and trunk, doors and finally the rear quarters and the roof). Few small imperfections (not really noticeable) and I happy with the end result.

Still working out some of the gremlins but am able to finally drive the car and have some fun....however like many here on the forum the driving part takes a back seat to doing the work although there were times I asked myself why am I doing this!
Cost up to now....I quit counting.

What a sweet ride, I had one like this 64-69, same color 383 4-speed. You did an outstanding job on this car. Maybe for sale?

Exquisite! Great attention to detail! This car got me interested into the 64 Sport Fury after soooo many years of A body survivor Duster340's. A labor of love no doubt in my mind!
