Inherited last year after my father's passing. He had it in storage since 1980's and never got around to restoring it. He was a mechanic and a huge Mopar fan. Always said he'd fix it up when he retired but unfortunately passed at the age of 62. Numbers matching, 440 4-speed car. Needs a lot of work, but starting to bring it back to life. Any advice is welcome as I'm completely new to restoration work.

Struggled with removing all the stainless trim (belt moulding, rear window) today. Noticed when I peeled back the old vinyl top that where others had said the roof seam was leaded in, mine had body filler? As far as I know it's the original vinyl top.

Spent today in the garage removing a few more things on my Charger. Removed stainless trim, and windshield. Then went to work dropping the steering column, and removing the dash. The dash was a huge pain and my back is feeling it now lol. A lot of my connections were corroded in place and did not want to budge. After much swearing in uncomfortable positions I finally managed to free it from the car for the first time since it was built. More mouse nests, they chewed up all the insulation behind the dash, little buggers.

Made the trip to National Moparts in Orillia, Ontario to get a few things today. Picked up new carpet, headliner, headliner insulation, sill plates, sill plate extensions, seat bolts, rubber floor grommets, and some new front arm rests for the Charger. Got home and went to work pulling down the old headliner. Mice had shredded the insulation and made two large nests in the ceiling. After getting it all cleaned up, realized I'm going to have to research how to put in the new one, it was quite a process getting the old one down. Anyways, one small step closer. How do these front clips by the windshield come out? I ended up just cutting the headliner around them. Also, this is all the mice left me of my Broadcast paperwork... :(

those clips will pull out bu I would recommend leaving them alone. They are kinda a one time use deal. If you end up with one or several clips that won’t stay in you can drill a 1/8 hole and put a aluminum pop rivet in them and no one will ever notice with all the trim and windshield in

Just the two I posted for now. They were taken a few years back when he brought it home to do the disk brake conversion. When I get it out of storage in the next month I'll be taking lots of pics

Just seen this and sorry for your loss. Have fun and take your time. Ask questions and like Eric said bag/tag EVERYTHING. Take pics and then take a bunch more. I have a thread on my charger and Im on 3 1/2 years and just started to put back together. My car will not be a show car . DaveK
 
Welcome to being a 1969 Charger R/T SE owner. Got a big project in front of me. Still collecting parts for it almost 12-13 years later. Real B7 1969 Charger R/T SE with a full fender tag. One more option would have thrown it over to a second fender tag.
 
Fist off, condolences for your loss.

My advice as someone who started their own project. Take your time, don’t be afraid to try new things and develop skills, don’t set unrealistic timelines.

When you find something you’re not good at, don’t be afraid to hire help.
