67 Coronet for my beloved wife
About this Mopar:
- Year
- 1967
- Make
- Dodge
- Model
- Coronet 440
67 Coronet 440 (sadly only model, not engine)
Original 318 car, A727, original color bright blue poly 881 - was rattle can painted white in the USA by the former owner.
Received a reman engine from 84 (low comp) around 2010.
I did a restomod, beginning with a nearly complete overhaul.
Transmission was modified (trans go shift kit TF2).
I disassembled the engine and found the rotating assembly and all bearing in good condition.
But the Engine only had a compression in the neighborhood of 8,4:1.
So I decided to spend some money and I bought a pair of aluminum heads - and I know, a lot of you guys will ask "WHY" - I kept the cr.
BUT what I did, I installed a Hughes Whiplash cam, new lifters (of course), a Weiand stealth dual plane intake manifold, topped by a 1/2" open spacer and a Quick Fuel 580 HR carburetor.
I allready installed a MSD streetfire a few years ago.
A 2,5" exhaust and a set of doug's headers are in the engine bay as well.
Performance leaf springs, better shocks, sway bars in front..... + a lot of other things.
The transmission was fed with a Hughes 24/25 converter (ending in a good 2500 rpm stall speed).
And the result.... a really angry idle and as soon you hit the throttle, it revs really strong and lays patches...
Not a competitor to our Duster (73, hot 360 with 10,6cr, comp cams 292H camshaft, Quick Fuel 750 SS-AN, MSD.......) but seems to be a solid cruiser with a little more punch.
We love US-Cars!!
BTW - I know, it is not the correct center console
