1962 again in my garage. How about you?

icetech: Have you contacted Joe Suchy? Here's a line item from his parts ad on the www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com. "... call for quote - Side and Rocker molding clips for some of the 1962-1966 Mopars." His contact info. is there also.

On my '62 Savoy front fender trim, I spread (bent) the "tangs" on the clips to "tighten" the trim.

www.rtspecialties.net may be a possibility.

I don't know if I am breaking rules here, but this car can be had, as my friend would like to have a 1967 Belvedere/GTX again. PM me with any interest. This is a clone and is Southern Ontario. If this is a transgression of rules, then delete.

This is your side molding clip. I'll keep looking as well. Let me know if you find them! Great car by the way!

just FYI, i just ordered 10 of these (3/4x1 5/8) and will see how they work.. i think i will have to bow them like the old spring clips due to how the trim sits on the fender.. will let you know if it works out.

BTW.. since we are talking '62s... on my car the tops of the quarters at the doors are like 1/4" in.. which i had no idea happened after years of people slamming doors.. i honestly though "Man.. mopar just didn't care if stuff fit back then" I saw you can use a portapower on the inside to put them back out.. just curious if there is a way to fix that without taking the interior back out? having lines that far off makes me nuts every time i see it.

You can actually see it in the read pic of mine above

I'd like to see a close up of what you're talking about.

I'll take a couple of pics when i get home.. basically the tops of the quarter at the doorjamb are like 1/4" in... and i didn't know why til i found a post where a guy explained that in non post cars where people slam the doors it will slowly move the jamb in at the stop due to no support.. I spent soo much time trying to get my doors lined up right and just though.. ok... mopar sucked in 62 and didn't even give the panels the same radius :)

sorry, took a few days to remember... you can see here.. top of the door is out a lot compared to the quarter... i spent hours trying every adjustment i could.. door in, door out.. upper hinge in/out.. lower in/out... and couldn't get the doors to fit decent top and bottom. Only thing i didn't try was twisting the door using the 2x4 method.. which i'm not doing now that glass is in..cause glass :)

Probably not the best way to measure between vehicles but here's what I come up with just doing it by myself. Just a starting point to see where yours measures. Hooked it on the opposite window.

Honestly that is not bad. Those panels were not the best in 62. My dad built a lot of those dies. The quality control was just not where we are today. I wouldn’t sweat that at all.

This car is so, so perfect period correct looking. Those white wall pie-crust cheaters out back along with the skinny white walls up front and the fender well headers? Nothing comes close to this kind of COOL. Enjoy throwing folks back four decades or so.
Thank you very much Jacket! Is that your badass 65 Dodge in the photo? Now that is a beauty!
