I'm new on the site. I'm working on the interior of my '62 Polara 500. The car is a factory air car. I have the speaker grill and speaker removed. I need to remove the defroster/ air cond. vent in the middle top of the dash to paint it. I am unable to figure out how to remove the plastic vents that connect the hoses to the metal part I have to get off to paint. Until I get these plastic vent parts off I will be unable to figure out how the metal part is fastened to the dash. If anyone has taken the dash out of a '62 air car or had to paint that center vent at the top middle of the dash I could really use some advice. I am being careful not to destroy the plastic vents because I doubt they have been re-popped.

Remove the vent tubes, then there is 1 screw on the backside of the plastic vents.
The remove the 3 screws holding the pot metal vent, middle screw shown.

WELCOME to the group! I also have a '62 Polara 500 2 door (non air) car that I pretty much done EVERYTHING to, so if you have any other questions, look me up and send me a PM. I'll be glad to help. I'm not on here every day, probably once a week.
