Hello. I have a recent curiosity about the 1964-'65 4 spd. shifters. As far as I know, there were 2 that were used. We are all familiar with the curvy one seen on many of the S/S Dodges and Plymouths from those 2 years, but what about the one you might see on a Coronet or Sport Fury? It has a very short upward section and then it goes straight backward at an upward angle. You all know the one. Question: did Hurst make that shifter and what is the going rate to buy one that is in good shape? What is this shifter commonly referred to as? I forgot what the curvy, bench seat S/S shifter is called. What is that one called by Hurst? I think it is called a Competition Plus. There were several styles with that name.

The only two
Shifters that I know about for those years are the "dog leg" which was the tall one used most commonly with the bench seat cars. And the second one you described is for a bucket seat with console shifter. I don't have a name for that one other than "console shifter". Both have the legendary Hurst Competition Plus shifter boxes. I know Brewer Performence carries the Dog leg. I am not sure about the console shifter. Brewers is a great resource for Mopar 4 speed OEM and aftermarket parts.

64 & 65 bench seat shifters were different. 64 came straight up then curved back.65 came came up and curved back then up (s curve)

pretty sure the shifting mechanism and rods were the same. only difference between console and bench seat was the bolt on handles.

Any pics would sure help. Planning on a 4-spd swap...

Cornpatch, I won't swear to it but your shifter looks like you have a 65 handle but your right, both have a s-curve to them. 65 comes back further
