Sup y'all? New to the a Forum game. Temp gauge on my 64 will run dangerously close to the H with out actually over heating. It vexes me. Should I be worried?

Welcome. First you have to determine if it is really hot or just the gauge. Install a mechanical gauge and see what the temp really is. Good luck.

Send the sensor lead to ground and it will "PEG" to the Overheat position.
If it stays "pegged"...when removed,it is bad.
The sensor operates this way: High temp sends transducer (sensor) to ground state and indicates "Overheat"
Sensors are cheap....

I found this sensor on Rock Auto.
Its about $9.00
Cheaper ones are available anywhere from $3.80 to $11.00

Also change your thermostat at the same time.

Anyway, introduce yourself...
Welcome to the Forum.

welcome to FBBO from NorCal

Thanks so much for your response. I will definetly take your counsel. I love my Dart, it's my most prized material possesion. The temp does stress me out though, and I want to drive her with out being worried about her over heating. I only love Classic Cars, I am not mechanically inclined. Should I go to a shop that specializes in Electrical work? Or will any repair shop be able to help?

Thanks so much for your guidance!
