Long winded but..........Picked this up as a project and will be looking for help/information on it (have the 426 Polara posted as well that I picked up and will be restoring). Car was an Illinois State Police car. The Trooper that drove it bought back at a state fleet auction in 1966, then he took to Texas in 1967 (after he retired) and sold it that year. I bought the car from the family that purchased it (the son - 81 years young and a former Austin City TX Police Officer) last month. He said his mother bought it and he was with her - met the Trooper - and gave me what I posted. I am looking for any information about the police cars of that time frame. I know 2nd digit is a "9" for police car. This does not have that. The son said that when his mother bought the car the retired trooper stated he "ordered' it. The State gave a stipend and requirements for what needed to be in/on the car. It has a 361 with factory silencer air cleaner, side cover for battery (Ive have never seen before), covers on brake lines at firewall (Ive never seen before), certified speedometer, no ac or power steering, front sway bar and a delete plate where the radio would be. Car has been off the road for almost 30 years and nothing has been removed or swapped except the water pump being removed. Any information on these cars would be great!!

I owned a 63 Ply Belvedere once that was an ex-Va. State Police car. Big block/3 on the tree car. It had a certified speedometer and a front sway bar. I think it had that battery plate. (I know I have had one of those plates, and it was probably on that car. But it was many years ago, so not for sure.)

Awesome car! I really like seeing the special parts the police cars received. They are very hard to find today. I have ‘68-‘70 B bodies, and the police package had a special 0-140 certified speedo. It had the numbers written on the face, so it required a special “clear” lense. They also had an oil pressure gauge that had 40 and 80 on it. It went where the civilian would have a blank cross, or the optional clock or tachometer.

The paint scheme is not black top with white - not sure if it was a supervisor car? Illinois State Police cars had black trunk/roof/hood in 1964 - I have no reason to doubt the history and have the information the two previous owners. This will be a fun project. Got a 64 date coded 413 police interceptor with trans with 60k for it (will keep original engine too)
