I'm in the process of removing the engine and transmission from my 1964 Dodge Polara, and cannot figure out how to get the speedometer cable out of the transmission. I've removed the bolt and the lock plate, but it won't budge. Is is siliconed into the transmission, or is there something else I'm missing? 318 automatic car. I don't want to break anything, so I figured I better ask the experts.

There's nothing else holding it in! You'll just have to work on it! Try and pry it out working your way around the housing!

Thanks, I'll have to get the transmission mount out of the way to get some room, but I'll give it a shot next weekend. Better to ask than to break something that you can't find!
