Hi everyone, I have this dilemma trying to figure out which rear 15 inch rim tire size I can use on my 1965 Dodge Coronet without issues. What I have done to the car, I moved the springs inboard to the frame with original length Dana rear (rear end tubes not shortened or lengthened) and no mini tub, left as is, OEM tub. I did this procedure to give more ample spacing for a factory 15 inch wider rim and tire set-up. Again, I want to use my factory rims and widen them with back spacing correctly ...

I know someone out here has already done this and need to know which tire size did they use with what back spacing with my type of same set-up…? If you have any pictures, please make an attachment...

Please Help...!!!

Since you did not mini tub it, the biggest rim size will be a 15x8 or 8.5 with a 4 1/2 back space. Tire size, 275 60 15 or 295 50 15 will fit nicely.

I did the same thing as you. 67 b-body dana , inboard springs and no tubs. 15x10 steel wheels with m&h dot n50/15 tires. 28.2 x 12

I have 15x10 w/6.5 bs. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 13.0 section width. I have offset hangers and my 29x10.5w are tight with a 13.2 section width. Before I changed to the 15x10 rims I had 15x8 w/5.5 bs steels with a 28x10.5 Hoosier slicks no clearance issues

Man you guys are so much help....!!!! Thank you....!!!! I just love this website. Everyone always is so helpful...!!!! Again, thank you!!!!!

However, my build is a street machine and would like to run a 10 inch rim with a 295/55R15(28'' x 12.5'' - 15'') in a Street Radial. The only thing I seem to have found is a Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tire in this exact sizing.

Anyone here think that this is ok and if used, what backspacing they used with this set-up....? Any other Street Radials tires in the same sizing can be used for my application...? It can not be bigger than 28" in diameter.... Axle moved forward when I got Superstock springs and the locating pin moved the axle forward a touch and don't want to cut the rear quarters front lower for clearance.

This looks great.... Is that a drag radial...? What was the backspacing.....?

Since you did not mini tub it, the biggest rim size will be a 15x8 or 8.5 with a 4 1/2 back space. Tire size, 275 60 15 or 295 50 15 will fit nicely.

Thank you for your help on this subject.... I got a set of the 275/60R15 M&H Drag Radials. I spoke with someone at M&H on rim width. I inquired earlier about going to a 9" on rim width. I was told if I did 9" on the rim width, the tire and rim setup would look like a pregnant cow, LOL...!!! In any case, the 8.5 hopefully will look good when you look at the car from the back. Do you have any of the pictures of either suggested tire / rim combinations that you mentioned?

The rim is a 15x8 with a 4 inch backspace, tire is 275-60-15. These pics are before I had the 68' housing narrowed 3/4 inch per side. Since then, the tires are a perfect fit.

It was a tight fit, with no room for any mistakes. Here's the tire info. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mnh-mss006/overview/
15x10 steel wheel, with a 3.75 back space. SS springs were installed inboard , front 20" seg. was placed so that tire would be centered in opening. Perches were welded to help fit the tires.View attachment 117029

Thank you and that car looks sweet as heck. This is exactly what I wanted to know.... I did however purchased a set of M/T Drag Radials from Jegs. part# P295/55R15s which is 28" x 12.5" x 15 and close to what you have. I should mention that I also got a set of the 275/60R15 M&H Drag Radials which will be returned. I will check backspacing against what you have but this is the look I am trying for especially when you see the car from the rearend. I want a big tire look when you see the car from the the back. Like you, I got the Super Stock spring but added a set of caltracs for my 65 Coronet. I feel the wheel hop will be eliminated and or at least really reduced. The only thing with my project is my engine. Its around 740 HP and with the P275 x 60R X15s, in first gear, it will be a smoke show even with the bigger tire...LOL...!!! Well, I'm getting older anyways and are not racing mine. Maybe a quick launch and cruise from there,,,,LOL. Just hope being here in good old repair the damn roads continuously here in Michigan, I won't have any issues with tire rubbing up inside of the inner fenders when I per say miss seeing a bump in the road.....

Looks really nice but man that looks like a tight fit. How is the clearance up inside of the wheel well being that close to the edge of the rear fender....?

Since those pics, I have had the rear narrowed and have plenty of room.

Thank you 5.7 Hemi. Your car looks great. As mentioned, "Since you did not mini tub it, the biggest rim size will be a 15x8 or 8.5 with a 4 1/2 back space. Tire size, 275 60 15 or 295 50 15 will fit nicely." I want to go with the P295/55R15s (28" x 12.5" x 15) similar to moparman400s look. I got a set of the 275 60R 15s but are returning them. Just wanted a wider look visually from the back. As you suggested, I will mock up a wheel at 4 1/2 backspace and see how it looks. However I was hoping for a 9.5 inch rim but maybe pushing the limit on inner fender clearance. Am I correct...?

Sweet wagon...!!!!

I dont know enough to say whether your right or not. It would be worth while to get the specs on the rim and tire size and measure, or get one of those tire thingy's that will bolt onto the axle and get ya dow an to a nats *** for what will fit.

The wheels were made from 60's era A100 van wheels . Some of the vans had the 15x5.5 wheels with big dog dish size centers. You can remove the centers and buy some new wheel shells .........or ship the A100 wheel cores to stockton and they will build them for you.

MoparMan400, enuff's enuff, you need to post LOTS of pics of your 65 Dodge!!!! BADASS!!!!! I have one in my storage box like that (2 dr sedan) and I am getting motivated!!! I am almost done with my 65 Belvedere 2 dr sedan, and once I get my shop up next spring, the dodge is coming out for full resto!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POST PICS OF THAT 65 DODGE!!!! That is WICKED!!!

If it helps, on my '62 I went a 275/60/15 tyre on 15" x 8" x 4.5"BS steel wheel (Wheel Vintiques) and it fits perfectly, clearance all round.

Educate me. Why move springs inboard with standard length housing, as I can't see the point?!

Moparman400, you have a 10" wheel, is that BS you quote correct? Is your rear narrowed?
