From time to time.
I see requests for the hood ornament for the 1966 or 1967 Plymouth B bodies.
So...took a few pictures to show the differences.
1966 on the left. 1967 is on the right.
1966 has an engine callout decal on the back side. On MOST engine sizes. Slant six has the same Plymouth rocket design on both sides in 1966.
1967 the engine size is cast into both sides.,,,on most applications. Slant six has no engine number cast into it. Some 67s only have V8 in them . No idea the application for that one

The final pic I've borrowed from a post elsewhere here on FBBO.

These are all 1967s.
Notice the base and retainer shape.
Now, this is only MY opinion.
But I feel only the second one from the right is 66-67 B body. all the others are 1966-67 Plymouth C body, such as Fury and Sport Fury

I believe in 67, only the 273 had "V8" as the call out.

All others had the displacement, except the 225, as noted above.

Original hood ornament on my 67 H-code 383 4bbl Satellite. The one off my 67 G-code 383 2bbl Satellite is black where it says 383. Both built in St. Louis. I always wondered if red vs black center was 4 vs 2 bbl carb. I recently saw a 383 one that was all red, but it wasn't on a car so I don't know what it came off of or if it was original though it appeared to be.

Very interesting that they would have a detail like a color code for 4 barrel cars.

383 would be the only available engine in a 67 B that could have been either a 4 or a 2 barrel, right?

Correct, same applies to 1966.
Now, none of this is written in stone, as Im still gathering info. SO bear with me
Best Ive been able to determine 1966 B bodies used OE # 2579874 which has a gold background . Shown above
Yet the C bodies also used a silver background with blue lettering for 2 barrell cars * shown here.
And I am fairly certain a 383-2 was not avail in a 1966 B body.

So the question then is what engine size would have been available as a 2 or 4 barrel in a 1966 B?

I don't think there was any.

Pk, guys on the 66 426 ornament.
Rub your finger over the foil insert. Originals you can feel a very slight raised in the embossed lettering. Ive yet to find a repop that has this feature. Best Ive can tell they were all smooth. And there were a couple different people making them. And the font on the lettering was different.

Was a 361 a 2 or 4 barrel ? I think 2 bbl only

a 361 was no longer avail in 1967 anything

These are all 1966 B body application part numbers and descriptions to the best of my knowledge.

2579849 is the base for a B body in 1966

2578531 Has no engine callout on either side, just the same rocket design like the typical front side does for 1966, Im pretty sure this was slant six applications only.
2579872 - is 318 and has black background with red lettering
2579874 - is 383 4bbl and has gold background with black lettering
2579841 - is 361 and Im pretty sure is silver background with black lettering ( I do not have a picture yet of this one that I'm sure is an original )
2579875 - is 426 and has red background with silver lettering

67 parts manual lists
2785 388 w/o decal, R1
2785 526 w/o decal, R2
2785 383 w/decal (318 2-bbl) - funny that this p/n is not for a 383
2785 385 w/decal (383 2-bbl)
2785 386 w/decal (383 4-bbl)
2785 387 w/decal (426)
2785 534 w/decal (440)

Never thought to check p/n's before, but does show different parts for 383 2 vs 4 bbl.

Mine is off my brother's 67. It was a 2 barrel car way back when he bought it in 1987.

Interesting by all accounts the feedback Im getting is the red and black was 4 bbl car. All black was 2 bbl cars
Hmm maybe I'm wrong I think he had a couple ornaments perhaps this was a different one. I'll check with him.

There also seem to be black only and black/red 1967 440 and Hemi ornaments in reproduction and I’ve wondered about the significance of that too, or if that even follows the originals.
