Hey guys there are several options for replacing the factory hood insulation on my charger from cheap eBay 35 dollar deal to 200 dollar specialty place. Anyone with first hand experience on this? I will need the fasteners as well. Thanks fbbo

Try Mr Moparts, www.mrmoparts.net.

Mark and Mike are 30 min from me here in AZ; their pricing is very competitive and they won't sell junk...

Check with National Parts Depot in Ocala. I bought my preformed under hood insulation there and they do have the fasteners. If I recall it around $90.00 (not including the fasteners) and if fit perfectly.

Well, it depends if you want what came on the car in 66/67 or the molded kind.
Personally I think the molded is WAY overpriced. I went the stock insulation.

Some include clips but the originals look like this, not the plastic.

While the molded is higher priced, the fit and finish compared to the 'cheap stuff' is night and day. The cheap stuff looks like 'construction insulation' when done.

And for all that money for the "molded" you are getting no insulation properties, which after all is what it is there for. To keep heat from the hood which is what the real hood insulation does.

So the factory molded piece provides no insulation? Why did they bother to spend the money and install it then? Seems it would do nothing more than cut into their profit margin.

As for 'all that money', the cheap stuff is $35 and the factory molded look is $94.

They were not molded from the factory in 67.

scribe the original hood position on the hinge mounts to #1 the engine compartment and #2 the hood bracket. I would use a sharp object to mark a line but a sharpie or pencil will do
