Good afternoon, i have a couple questions about my 67 GTX fuel filler and vent pipes. does anyone know what the factory plated these with? i would like to send these out for re-plating, also can someone recommend a shop to do this for me. one last question.... my original flip top gas cap is pretty rough so can someone recommend a vendor that sells a repop that is of good quality and proper appearance, i also need the rubber elbows and clamps.... any help would be appreciated, thank you Rich ... from CT

Arent they galvanized??

May have a GTX fuel filler for you. Will send pictures tonight.

SXARNOLD.... thanks for responding, im not looking for a filler tube, i have one, i just want to re-plate the 3 tubes that i already have. my dilema is im not sure what it was originally plated with....any ideas

ok guys, you are correct, the fuel and vent tubes were hot dipped galvanized from the factory..... my question is where in the USA can i get these plated again.... is there any companies out there that do small items ? any one ever get this done ?

Sorry never tried it. Im with ya, love to get away cheap, and keep the originals whenever possible. I remember buying the rubber parts years ago from YearOne, and I think every part weve been discussing is still showing as available from Jims Auto Parts, so give em a call if you get in a pinch. Sounds like somebody must still be making the rubbers, the necks and the caps. HTH, Lefty71

Only 2 of the first 4 are "local" on the yelp page lower down there are other platers in Mass. That one in Glastonbury bury I'd go up there with the part as clean as possible. If there a receptionist if she/he gives you the brush off be real nice ask to talk to in sales.

thanks Fran, i called the shop in glastonbury, his exact words were ..we hate car people !! he then went on to say that he wouldnt want to ruin my part in the process and the minimum charge would be astronomical.... now if i had a tractor trailer full of pipe he said it would be worth it for me and him. he did say to try that MASS fence company might do it... ill call them and see what they say.... again guys thank you for the responses.

Isn't that the way. To bad you don't live near by, find an employee that will do government work. I miss my old employer had access to all kinds of equipment. Retired an company downsized.

so guys i found a fence company that will hot dip galvanize for me.. im going to send my parts to hampden fence in Agawam Mass. he will do small parts as long as they fit in his basket, i think he said 30 inches is his max. He quoted me $125 to galvanize my parts.... I will try to put up a picture after i get the parts back.. thanks everyone
