Hello just wondering will a 1969 Coronet grille bolt straight in to a 1968 coronet

Doesn't look like it
The filler between grille and bumper is a different shape.
The fenders are shaped different
69 has an extra piece screwed to the bottom edge of the hood to fill in for the tapered 69 grill

Hoods are the same and where it ends. As R413 stated, the 69 got a filler strip to make the grill work and the lower is shaped differently.

I thought the fenders interchange because of the taper- the 69 grill sits to the front, while the 68 is recessed.

...and the difference was the top and bottom (below the grill and on the hood) filler panels.

Everything looks different to me. You better just get the right stuff. Can of worms... What are you trying to do?

Look at the seam where the lower filler panel meets the fender, line that seam up with the hi beam headlamp. They are different, so are the headlights moved, or is the length of the lower filler different?

The headlights are not in the same place left to right.

Line them up with the hood/fender edge, park lamp, and seam where fender and lower filler meet.

They did the same thing between 1967-1967, moved the headlights over.

Found a project 68 not a matching number or anything special & I've always loved the 68 r/t rear and the 69 front.well the car has the front grille lights etc missing so yes i know i'm going to get hammered but i want to build a 68 with the 69 front

You just missed a nice 69 grill assembly for a fair price.

You might consider getting a broken one, or at least the headlight surrounds, to test fit.

Looks like you might need the buckets, too.

I agree- I like the 68 tail lights better and absolutely LOVE a 69 N96 front end.
