Offering a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 4 speed car project
Still has the numbers matching engine in it ( have not checked the vin on transmission yet )
Has Dana 60 rear end
After checking the engine over and turning it over by hand to be sure everything was free
Cranked it over with just the starter to get some oil up into everything
I started the engine just to see if it will run by topping up some gas in the carb fuel bowls and a little down the intake
Ran a wire from battery to coil and jumped the solinoid on the starter
Cranked over and started and ran till the fuel was gone
Over the years the car has had several owners but the ownership is still in the orignal owners name as no one ever transfered it
I found the original owner and paid him a visit as he is still alive and now 79 years old and we talked about his old car
He did mention he had it up to 145 mph once and the car was still climbing but was running out of road
He also pointed out if it was still his old engine it would have the dual point set up in the distributor and sure enough it still does when I checked later that day
The engine was never apart and he never had to change the clutch
Odometer reads just over 82 000 miles now
At one time the car was in poor shape but now has had most of the bad metal replaced
Now has all good floors and frame rails
Full driver quarter has been replaced with a southern quarter
Passenger side has a partial skin replacement
The inner fender needs repaired or replaced under the battery tray area (car comes with new AMD inner fender)
Bottom of one rocker has a small hole and the lip of back window opening on passenger side needs a little work
All the glass is here
About the only main thing missing is a 26 radiator , fuel lines , brake lines kind of little things that should be replaced for safety reasons anyways
Comes with lots of extra parts
Better pair of 68 front fenders
Better pair of 68 door shells
A better set of 68 tail lights and center trim
The piece that goes between the grill and front bumper ( the one on the car has a bend in it )
The car comes with a pile of orignal paper work
Has ownership card
Fender tag
Build sheet
Has the glove box owners manual with the blue Certi card still in it
A few of the first oil change records are filled in on the pack pages of manual
Has the order form he filled out at the dealership when he ordered the car
Base price was $1949 and he added about $200 worth of options to bring his price up to $2157.75 plus tax
Also looks like the original window sticker is here
The car was ordered with
440
4 speed
Dana 60 with 354 limited slip rear end
Power steering
Power disc brakes
Black vinyl top
Bucket seats with buddy seat in the middle
QQ1 paint colour
The car is located close to Toronto Ontario Canada
I am asking $22 000 Canadian which works out to about $16500 US with the current exchange rate
Do I have to sell it ? No I do not
If I do sell it it will be very hard to replace such an interesting project with original engine and interesting paperwork
But I do have 2 more second gen B bodies I could use the funds from this sale on
I will consider a trade towards a 1968 Dodge Charger only
If it does not sell I will just store it in a barn till I get time to work on it
It could be a great barn find in the future
I have more pictures if there is something you would like to see just ask
Update Nov 23
I have had a couple messages and I might be wrong on what the original price of the car was when new
The yellow order form paper also says something about a 66 Dodge trade in so the end price is the difference of the trade and new car price
No where did it say what the original price was for the coronet
Sorry for any confusion
