1968 Dodge Charger: I need to know placement and how to install the wire covers on my new floor. I have a long one and a short one for each side. The old wire covers were already rusted away when I got the car. If the covers are closed on both sides, how do you install the wiring? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

If you are talking about the covers on the sills, they are welded to the floor pan on the inside only. That way, you can flip them up and slide the wiring underneath.

Long ones front shortys in rear as stated earlier welded in and opens to the inside if I’m not mistaken, trying to recall been some time.

I only have a couple pictures of the AMD covers that I installed on my '68.

Welded only on one side, see arrow. You can “hinge” the cover up. This view is looking at drivers door area.
You can see the wires running to the tail lights.
This is my 68.

I can’t only answer the last question as my floor is now covered.
Layout your two pieces so the gap falls in the area to the left of the arrow in my picture.

Three questions: Which way do the tabs face, toward the inside of the car or to the door? Are the tabs welded and act like a hinge? Long one first and then the short one? Thanks!

This is what they look like on a '70 Charger. Hope this helps.

The tabs face towards the door, so the cover opens and pivots towards the trans tunnel. Yes, the tabs are spot welded and then it hinges from the bend in the tab so you have to be careful how many times you open and close them. When I installed mine I looked at as many original cars that were stripped down and it seemed like the consensus is that the short one goes up front and the long one towards the rear. I'm assuming it's that way because if it were the opposite way the split would be right where someone would step while climbing into the back seat which could compress the edge of one of the covers into the wires. Just my opinion of course.
