1968 road runner rubber bumper guards

So my 68 runner has the rubber guard strips on the bumpers. I am not the biggest fan of them but it’s a unique option on the car. I also hate to drill holes in new bumpers to put them on. Plus the original ones are not in the best shape so I would have to buy a set of NOS ones and if you find them people are asking like $500 a set for them. With all that said, if it was your car would you put them back on it? Here’s a pic before disassembly and you can see them on the bumper.

Weld the holes and get the bumper rechromed.
