1970 needs body work (not mine)

I'd like to see in the not-too-distant future, the car those numbers will be on.

I look at the pictures over and over and wonder how much might be salvageable. Is the complete floor and rear inner fenders still good? Cowl? Front inner fenders? Rad support? Other than the roof, is the inner interior structure useable? I know this would be more than a bunch of skin work but I think it could be much less than a rebody.

$8,800. Someone must want it bad.

Looking a little closer, was an air grabber added to a Superbird? I can't see that it had a wing, and what is the round hole on the left rear quarter panel? I cannot add it up although the tag appears to be a bird.

Evidence of wing is in at least one photo. Melted aluminum on back of car and holes for mounting wing are also visible.

Hard to expand and see with these old eyes and on my phone. Thanks for the inspection. Any idea on the other 2 quirks?

Milt Wood's Bird that burnt in his garage last year. It is a real bird, "day 2" modified with grabber, quarter filler and two power antennas.

This is also a real bird, now being used for a dog house. It was wrecked and a RR front clip put on. A homemade tunnel ram thru the hood and a 70's Van style sunroof in the top. Maybe a little more save able than this one, but cannot be bought and it looks like he will outlive me.

I thought that burnt metal wasn't very salvageable, that it would be warped or would lose it's structural integrity?

Sorry I should’ve pointed out that you can press the HD button for hi DEF photos and then expand and zoom in. Hard for my eyes too. I had to really squint through my glasses in order to see the details

Man I'm sure a lot of tears were lost on a once awesome car. At least the ad says it comes with keys...

i just looked at the ad and thought the exact same thing.
that car looks to be totally wasted and not saveable at all....
....................?

My "Take" on this is:
1. Would not the Owner have it Heavily Insured?
A) Insurance would "take over" and FIX if possible
B) Or "Replace"
2. Did Insurance "Pay Out" and Owner is selling what appears to be a WRECK?

I have Quality Insurance on all my cars....
Just saying.

Also, interesting to ponder: "Amp Meter Gage" failure causing the Inferno?

I was wondering the same things...

what started the fire ?
someone above said; 'inside a garage fire'

& did insurance cover the value

& hopefully he had agreed/market value insurance

the car is unfortunately 'a roach'
cost as much to repair as replace

metal shrinking, expansion & buckling
after being annealed
subjected to that kind of heat

I smell a re-body (GYC :poke:)

IMO if not being 'a real Superbird', it'd be scrap metal
