1970 Road Runner Project

Hello everybody,

I've been coming to this site for years and I finally got a project so I thought it would be a good time to join. I grew up loving Mopars. My Dad always had one when I was growing up and we spent a lot of time together working on whatever car he had at the time. Mopars were a very big part of my childhood. In the early 2000s we kind of got priced out of the hobby but never lost our love for the cars. My father passed away 2 years ago, so when this car popped up for sale in my town, I couldn't pass it up. 1970 Plymouth B Bodies were always his favorite. He and my Mom took a 70 Sixpack GTX on their honeymoon in 1980 so that body has always had a soft spot in our family.

The Car: 1970 Road Runner Coupe. Factory 383 4-speed, B3 blue with two tone blue and white bench seat interior and a white deck lid stripe. Not a lot of options but would have been a pretty car when new, IMO. PS, Road Runner Decor PKG, hood pins, and rocker mouldings. The car is rough. The story is that it got parked in 1982 with 56,000 miles because of a bent pushrod and sat outside from that time until a couple years ago. It sold new in the town I live in and the dealership that sold it new, bought it and replaced the pushrod, fuel tank, radiator, and a few other things to get it running. The guy I bought it from redid the brakes, and that's when I bought it last week. I've spent most of the last week cleaning the interior and trying to figure out where to start.

The fact that I could drive it home was a big selling point for me. It is also fairly original. I think the paint is original as well as most components. I want to drive it while I slowly fix it up. It will never be a perfect 100 point show car but it is the perfect car for me. I plan on doing most of the work myself and on a limited budget. I know I have a long road and a lot of work ahead of me, but I couldn't be more excited. My end goal is to have a reliable driver that I can just hop in and drive and enjoy. I will probably start a thread on the project cars forum but I just wanted to introduce myself first. Thank you all.
