I just noticed a loose wire with a connector hanging down near where all the brake lines connect
looks like there is a place to plug the wire into . anybody know much about the switch

That's most likely the Brake Light Warning switch connector. It hooks to the brake light warning light on your dash cluster at the bottom left and lights if the system loses pressure.

Where all the brake lines connect it sounds like the brake distribution block. There is a switch on the block that a wire should connect to.

Yes , i have a feeling the previous owner might have disconnected it because it was not working properly
