Should have started a diary on day1. But ok, not even six years, I'll try to reconstruct.

Spring 2020
The mission is defined: a new ride, and it has to be a 1971 Charger.

August 2020
After months of scouring the Internets daily, and learning about the unbelievable number of fake adverts out there, this one comes up on FB.

Fits the bill, and looks decent enough. Still, only a handful of photos, no travel possible to take a look (pandemic), and the flipper who sells it is not super-convincing on the phone.
But I want to believe, so I go for it.

Already one week later, a truck pulls up in Ohio to load her up for the trip to New York Harbor.

October 2020

The car has arrived in Rotterdam. Still not cleared by customs, but the shipper sends an inspection report with photos and the conclusion: "car in apparent good condition".

Ten days later, I can finally pick her up in Rotterdam. Only a 100 miles to get her home, should be no big deal? Battery is almost dead, but so what...

Well, the engine dies every two miles and will start up again if you pour gas in the carb generously. At this rate, we'll be home in 3 days. So we hitch a ride...

and leave her outside the shop who had agreed to eventually take care of getting her roadworthy and through the first safety inspection.

Had I known then that it would be seven long months before I'd get her back, I might have reconsidered...

Finally it's her turn in the shop. What is done:
- Front disc brakes - that conversion would not be legal after the certification for road use, so crucial to do now
- electronic inginition, wires & plugs
- Holley 4150 vaccum secondary
- 15" Rallye wheels, center caps and new tires
- new battery
- parts that were missing: both horns, washer bottle
- Tuff stering wheel
