1972 Charger Taillight Conversion

I have a 72 charger with regular taillights and I also have a set of r/t taillight bezels, I'm wondering if it is possible for me to cut the old housing off and mount the r/t bezels to the tallight screw holes. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

The lenses are radically different.

I believe the housing is quite a bit different as well.

I've seen the lenses repro'd but they were pricey.

I had thought about trying to make 73/74 lenses work with the louvered R/T and Rallye bezels, but then I got a good deal on a complete tail light set.
