1972 GTX Horn Beep Beep or not?

Reviewing the ’72 sales documents I have, there is a sales code called “Dual Horns” (J31). Comparing some ’72 build sheets I have, there is a “1” located under Horns (section J-3) on all the Satellite build sheets and this location is cleared on the (RM) Road Runner build sheets. If you have your original build sheet for your ’72 “U” coded RM, you should find the J-3 box cleared of any codes.

I have verified 72RoadrunnerGTX's findings as per my build sheet. So we all should have one horn most likely the Road Runner BeepBeep horn.

thanks guys,
Been out of town and not on line for a while.I recently bought the car and it's cowling , radiator support and VIN match the build sheet. The very dirty 440 with all the correct casting numbers also have the correct VIN stamped in the block. Even the interior appears to be correct. Based on the amount of hidden rust I've found I really think its pretty close to original. All the original AC components are there and the charcoal canister and what appears to be the factory wiring clips and clamps were in place. With that said, this is my 3rd 72 RR and I would have to agree I was very surprised to see two non beep beep horns. 42 years later we will probably know but the 2 horns I removed appeared to have been there a long long time.

I am new here. I don't know much...

For what it's worth, my 1973 RR has a single black, regular horn. Kinda has a seashell swirl to it. Mounted driver's side

The wiring harness has two connections for horns.

I would say the horn looks like it has been there a very long time.

after further review one of the horns is not an original

someone changed it out a very long time ago.

Opening this old thread with maybe a stupid question, but my 72 runner is new to me. I just got the original Sparton horn working, and it only makes one beep sound per horn press. I thought they made multiple meep meep sounds per press.
I adjusted the screw, but didnt notice much difference. As you turn it counterclockwise from full off, what does it do to the sound?
Thanks.

One press, one beep.

Manipulating the horn button to create the cartoon character’s signature double meep is an acquired skill, keep practicing.
