Anyone on here own a 72 painted in Blue Streak? I have been googling pics, but it looks like it is bringing up several different shades of blue. I looked at the paint codes on the Mopar site, but it is difficult to tell as the swatch was very small and near the other shades of blue. Mine is spec'd out as TB3 and trying to decide if I want to go back original or repaint to Hemi Orange. Thanks!

From a little bit of googling that seems to be basin street blue for plymouth or like you said blue streak for dodge and I've read many who refer to it as petty blue or "corporate blue". Diff people mixing paint often yield slightly diff colors when done I think. Also lighting and any fading would effect the look of the finish. I don't think the diff shades is a big a deal with non metallic finishes but I'm no painter.

I've always wanted a Petty Blue car or one this color personally . There are probably less than 1 car this color for every 100+ hemi orange cars out there (I like hemi orange and the rest of the high impact colors too though). Either choice is great. If you are asking for opinions I would go TB3 if it were mine but you can't loose either way. What do you like the best? That should be your answer.

1972 was the first model year that "Petty Blue" was officially released as a non-special-order colour .

From 1962-1971 , TB3 ( T=1962 ) had various names :
- "Corporate Blue"
- "Petty Blue" ( 1964-1971 )
- "Basin Street Blue" ( Plymouth) , "Super Blue" ( Dodge )

It was only available on Plymouths , and was typically a 'regional colour' ( e.g. , it was only available in the south-east U.S. , "NASCAR Country" ) until 1972 .

I guess it depends on if you want to reproduce the OEM shade faithfully or are you going for a specific shade that you prefer? Reason I ask is I think you have a major benefit in color matching because everyone has seen Petty's blue Dodges and Plymouths. This might sound stupid, but how about you pick up a die cast model or two and see if you love that shade. If you do, take it to the paint shop and have them match it. If you don't, well, you're out less than $100 but still have some cool garage art.

Both colors are great but I would stick with B3 and save yourself the cost and effort of a complete repaint. Currently in the process of returning my 71 Charger back to it's original Gunmetal metallic and it's a lot of additional hours that might not have been necessary.

Matching the original shade will be a concern no matter which color you go with. I'm using ppg and hopeing for the best. Personally I would pay a premium for an original B3 car but that's just me. Its an awesome color.

Thanks! for some reason when I was searching it was pulling up a bunch of mixed examples and I just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right color. Maybe I will just have to save my pennies and find another one to paint orange.... :)
