1972 Plymouth Road Runner RM23, 400, 4 speed car. Much restoration over the last 4 or 5 years. Extremely nice and straight, rust free, super clean car. 1 of 906 4-speed cars, date correct 400 with fresh rebuild 10:1 and runs strong. Sure grip 3:55. Matching Trans. Dash VIN and Trans match. Repro fender and door tags. Car was built in Canada and raced for a number of years. Have the phone numbers for the last 2 owners.

Price: $57,000 OBO

VIN: RM23P2R183557

Made in Canada car. Total restoration over last 4 years or so. Previous owner out of Canada did the majority of restoration. I then fixed and corrected a lot of incorrect items with the help of a very respected, knowledgeable and skilled member. Car was taken down to shell, soda blasted. Many Resto pics of body and engine. Excellent paint . All Electrical works and is updated correctly and safely, Vltg lmtr, digi tach pcb, relays. New Borgeson steering kit. Many new parts such as rubber gaskets, carpet, Kilmat througout, rhino lined underneath and trunk, Not to cover rust but to protect car. Brand new Cooper Cobras go on the car tomorrow.

Interior is super nice. No rips or tears or smoking or smells. New repro seat backs. I added reproduction Tach. Detailed spread sheet of all work done by previous owner and myself. It's a long long list! Car is pretty factory except some items like painted bumpers (bumpers etched first) Vector wheels (special order anthracite color), MSD, FPR. Color is Chrysler Sinamon Stick. Kind of like burnt orange, only pops more, especially in the sunlight.

The engine build was rebuilt following a Motor Trend recipe from 2022, titled "Chrysler 400 B series, Hemi Power at half the Cost". It did deviate slightly on the carb and intake due to hood clearance, according to previous owner, who also attempted a FI system. Which is why there is a AFPR. I have pics of the engine build, but not receipts, so I can only go by his word. You can find the entire recipe on line or I can find the link and send. The following notes were given to me regarding this build.

Current Engine:

Bore 4.372"
Stroke 3.38"
Deck Height 9.980:
Head 81.5 CC
Pistons -6 CC
Compression 10:1
406 CI

Engine in the car VIN: P2C38535. 400 cid 4 barrel V8 High Performance (according to online Fender Tag Decoder)
CASTING: 3614230-2, 400, B Family 1971-1972

It runs strong, much stronger than a stock 400. But I do not have Dyno sheets to prove. Just my butt meter. Doesn't blow smoke or anything. I'm selling car primarily because I don't like driving a 4 speed of this era in the city and want to move on to a modern car. I've owned many muscle cars, but never a 4 speed. It shifts fine and all of that, but if I get another old car....it will be an automatic again.

As with all cars from this era, there will always be something to address. However, this car does not need any major work to my knowledge at all.

Serious inquiries only please. Make contact and talk first. Easier than a bunch of emails. Will answer all questions and send all additional info as needed after that. Let’s not waste each other’s time if you’re not in the market for a 72 RR.

Is this US or Canadian?

Good looking car. Did you have the tag made or did a previous owner?
Not a repop to my knowledge. I did not have it made. If someone was to fake a tag, why would they put codes on that are not installed in the car? For example, this car has Power Brakes, but they are not on the tag. It is also a C16 console car, that neither the last owner or myself reinstalled. Why bother to put fake options on and not install them? Why not fake a broadcast sheet while you're at it? Easy to make look old. Why go to all of the trouble to fake a tag or docs on a 72 RR to begin with?

I believe the tag to be original.

Sorry to be 'that guy'.....

It's a remade tag. There's an error on the tag and the 72 in the upper RH corner is a trademark of tags made by Dave Wise at MMC. He now puts the year on his tags.

There's lots of reasons why people have tags made. There's lots of reasons for what codes do and don't appear on a tag.

The 72 in the top right corner Identifies this as a tag made by Dave Wise MMC Detroit.
He does this, Chrysler doesn't put the year of the car in the upper right corner.

Ok. Thanks. My apologies to everyone on the site for not knowing this. Learned something here. Makes me despise the guy I bought the car from even more. Did not know that about the fender tag. I knew the door sticker looked new. Seems dumb to not make the car look like the tag.

Here are the pics for the VIN on the dash and trans. Do those look real to you? Looks like the right rivets, though I know you can buy them. But looks worn enough with silkscreen. Also Trans stamp looks right. Also pics of car down to metal. It had new qtrs hung on it and a lot of work.

Just want to prove to people that I'm not trying to pass off a fake RR. There are even more body pics. I'll post some engine rebuild pics as well. I still believe this is a real RR and it is a nice car. But I will try and edit this ad to take off the fender tag pic and reference. Will also amend my ad on cars on line ad.

The transmission stamping looks good to me.

Transmission assembly date is 3756 which is Tuesday, November 9, 1971.
That correlates pretty well with a B20 ish SPD

What about the dash VIN? Thanks
I went back and checked original tags on other cars I've had. Yes, no year in the upper right corner. When I bought this car, I knew it was modified and didn't have matching stuff, so I was ok with that. But some of the mods I thought would be good, like rack and pinion, headers, cutouts, etc., sucked. Especially the steering. It was a unisteer......did not know about that junk either.

What is SPD? A is Oct, beginning of build year? 20 being the day?

Without a build sht to match the vin tag there are questions. But its a nice looking car. If it were a 440 car that production number drops drastically.

Yes. B20 scheduled Production Date. November 20th.

Thing that keeps confusing me is the ac dash. That would be unusual in a 4;spd car. But not uncommon at all in an automatic car.

It's not an A/C dash frame as there is no vent on the driver side. It's just an A/C wood grain insert on the passenger side of the dash pad...
