1972 Rear Defogger motor bench test

Trying to diagnose the rear defogger setup, of course it worked before the resto of the car and now it doesn't.
I seem to have power everywhere needed and grounded correctly but can't figure out why it is not working.
Just wanted to start with the motor, can you simply bench test it? Black wire to negative post of battery and green wire to the positive post? Or do I need to use a multimeter? Or some other way?

Any suggestions would help, thanks.

You are correct. And be careful of that steel finger grinder.

You can hook it up to battery power.
I’d secure it in a vice or something of the sort when you do.
Otherwise it may hit the floor and get damaged.
If it works, the next thing I’d check is for a good ground.
Your grounding spot may have gotten painted over during the restoration.

Tried it and it looks like the motor is bad. Will update later with my findings, thanks again.
