Good evening, I am wondering if anybody knows how easy it is to cut out the entire floor and subframe and weld them as one piece into another car The reason I ask is I have a 1972 Satellite that has most of the metal work done at this point and found a 1971 GTX that looks like it needs everything lower than the rocker panels replaced. My thought was cut out the entire front and rear subframe and floor assembly from the Satellite and weld into the GTX, but don't know if cutting them out would take all the structural rigidity out of the car and cause me problems. The Satellite would then get a full frame and turned into something like a pro touring or pro street car.

Of course it can be done and although I don't shy away from a challenge, I have to ask...
Why? You'd ruin a car that is almost done.
I can see the appeal of having a "GTX" but if the Satellite is so far along, why not make a GTX clone of it?
My red Charger is not a genuine R/T but I don't care. I build my stuff to make me happy, not as some long term savings account to cash in on later.
If you are more interested in enjoying your car, I'd stick with the 72 and avoid the massive project.

I agree, finish the 72... And if you still want to resurrect the 71 I know of a donor that isn't a nearly done car....

You can kill a 4dr to do that repair.
I have a complete front clip, rocker to the qtr from a petty blue 72 charger, but the distance makes all the wants impractical

if rocker panels aren't rotted........ they, along with the roof, will hold it together for a floor transplant

Thank you all for the replies. Kern dog to answer your question about why, the small setback in time to get the Satellite done, which is still a long way off, makes the GTX instantly safe and drivable and makes it done for now. At the same time this gives me the opportunity to make the Satellite a full custom frame and cage, put a triangulated 4link or independent rear suspension from a newer challenger in it (haven't decided which route yet) and T56, without destroying otherwise pristine floors and frame rails.
