Hello.

I'm endevouring to purchase my first classic mopar; in this case a 1972 Satellite. What I'm wondering is -- is there a list of known trouble spots on these cars? I know, for example, that Corvettes have very touchy brakes and so on.

Where do these cars tend to start rusting?

Mechanically it doesn't matter as these issues can be easilly addressed(if not costly), but what I'm after is a solid foundation.

Thanks!

Cowl (including door hinge area)

Frame rails under the cowl

C pillars, and around rear window

Also, check the trunk floor behind the tires and the floor inside the passenger area. Look at the leaf spring mounting brackets and frame areas around the leaf spring mounts.

i would almost bet its nasty behind where the hood hinges mount..

Thanks fellas! I'll be sure to post photos of the beastie!

Check the inside of the cowl where the windshield wiper mechanism sits for rust through.

Door jamb bottoms and door jambs between the hinges where the door switch mounts.
