Carefully. That old stuff can be brittle, or very soft, and break easily. You don't want wedge anything between the socket and the housing or you could crack the housing. Don't use any chemicals or they may soften and deteriorate the housing. I would try dish soap around the interface. let it set a bit, then gently wiggle the socket as you pull. Just watch the housing for any cracking.
You could also take the entire housing out, remove the lens, and use a pliers to pinch or bend the socket tangs. That might make getting it out easier. You still need to get the new one in. Soap.
