1972 Vs 1973 Turn Signal Switch

My five and six year old grandsons were using the turn signal switch in our '72 Satellite Sebring Plus as a shift lever and now it's broken inside. I see replacement switches listed online for models '73 and newer. I wonder if one of those would work in a '72 model? Anyone know for sure? Thank you.

second half 71 production already got the later switch design. So yes, 72 and 73 are the same
