1973 Charger Head rest

How do you remove the head rest from the seat?? Need help its probably super easy just can't figure it out.

theres a detent in the plastic tubes. i wish i could recall how i removed them. my shop manual doesnt show. i wanna say i pushed the metal poles or whatever the heck they're called toward each other as i pulled up on the headrest.
