The 80’s had this stuff relatively cheap still. I bought a few then that got a lot bigger money in 89.....had to sell as got transferred out of Los Angeles to Buffalo NY.
I actually went and looked at that car then. Same seller also had a bronze 1969 charger hemi car.
A buddy of mine and myself tried to make a deal and buy both. But for some reason...couldnt get it done.
He sold it pretty quick to a Indianapolis basketball player. . Last i heard car was in a NY collection
Around ‘82 or ‘83 I was talking on the phone to a guy in Toronto about my ‘71 Super Bee. I had paid $350 for it in 1976. It was still a pretty new car.
Anyway, we got to talking cars and he gets a Toronto paper out and reads me an ad for a 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda for sale in Toronto. Ad said it had some rust. Price was either $4500 or $5500, I can’t remember.
I worked in a Dodge dealership in 74/5? Any way they took in a 70 Hemi Challenger R/T SE 4 speed, triple black. I could have had it for 2500.00 but, I had ordered a new 3/4 PU. Who knew?

What gets me is that it’s not the money. So many wish they had bought a Hemi car because they are worth a lot now. I just wish I had bought a Hemi car then because I can’t afford one now. Would so many find them as desirable if they had no value? I would.
I didn't want a MAX because it might be worth a lot of money, I just wanted a MAX! In 1966 I found a 1964 Hot Rod Yearbook. I had known a little about Mopar performance because the family wagon was a '59 Sport Suburban with a Golden Commando 361. And yes, my parents let a 17 year old loose on the public highways with 305 HP! The Yearbook told me about Maxs and Hemis and all sorts of other things. In the early Seventies I missed the Tritak & Morgan War Wagon. They wanted $3,000 for it and I just couldn't do it. I wasn't going to let another one get away.
Its all relative, back in the 80s I was a kid making 5 bucks an hour. It took me a long time to save a thousand dollars. I also remember going with another friend to look at an engine in a body shop, we were told it was a hemi. they wanted a thousand bucks for it. sure enough when we got there in a back room covered with dirt and dust with one head off was a 426 hemi laying on the floor. Needless to say I did not have the money to buy it.
In 1984, $10,000 was triple what I had to spend on a car, or I would have bought the hemi road runner I've posted on the search thread here. Instead, I bought Baby Blue, my '68 GTX, for $1800. I was afraid back then that we might never see anything like them again. I bought my GTX, not for future value, but as a hedge against it. Have never regretted that decision.
Ive had dozens of old Mopars over the years. hemi car, gtx verts, one ea Daytona and Superbird. and out of them all I miss my old 1969 Hemi roadrunner and one of the 69 GTX verts. ( the one to the right in this picture) I looked for over a year to get the GTX vert back and couldnt find it . I know where the roadrunner is but the car is not for sale
SO ,,,I buckled down the past couple years and bought my 1966 Satellite from a very good friend of mine. For well under market value I might ad.
Its future value I really dont care. My 2 daughters can argue its fate once Im breathing dirt
I had a budget in mind and wanted a done 1967 GTX hardtop. preferably 440 auto and factory air. But when this Satellite became an option. I did everything in my power to make it happen. And I have ZERO regrets , even though it doubled the original budget and I had to wait almost 2 years from my original plan
