Congratulations to 'johnnycuda' (FABO) and 'memike' (FABO) for sharing the NHRA "Pick 'Em" game Top Qualifier title for the twelfth stop on the 2026 NHRA season, the 37th annual Muckleshoot Casino NHRA Northwest Nationals in Kent, WA. They each ended up with 22.5 qualifying bonus points but they earned them different ways. 'johnnycuda' picked the #1 qualifier in Top Fuel, the #2 qualifier in Pro Stock and the #3 qualifier in Funny Car. 'memike' picked the #1 qualifier in Pro Stock, the #2 qualifier in Funny Car and the #3 qualifier in Top Fuel.
'ocdart' (FABO) was next with 22.0 bonus points.
'alsant' was the top FBBO qualifier with 18.5 bonus points.
All great picks!

There is one Round 1 head-to-head matchup in both Top Fuel and in Pro Stock.
The Top Fuel matchup is between #4 qualifier Shawn Langdon (6 picks) and #13 qualifier Justin Ashley (1 pick). There is a possibility of one head-to-head matchup in Round 2.
The Pro Stock matchup is between #3 qualifier Matt Hartford (1 pick) and #14 qualifier Jeg Coughlin Jr. (1 pick). There is a possibility of one head-to-head matchup in Round 2.
Round 2 of Funny Car eliminations could possibly have two head-to-head matchups if all drivers survive Round 1.

We have 16 players again this week and 14 different driver combos made up of:
* 6 different Top Fuel drivers
* 6 different Funny Car drivers
* 5 different Pro Stock drivers

Good luck all!

We're racing in Seattle

3 weeks for the next race in Brainerd
I gotta' turn this crap around

JMO...
* Do you think Tony Pedregon pays for his chance to be on the NHRA broadcasts? Brian Lohnes is a well-prepared complete professional and I really enjoy his announcing. Tony is knowledgeable, but his constant stumbling style detracts from the overall quality of the television coverage. He has been part of the announcing team since 2016.
* If I were a sponsor of either a Pro Stock car or Pro Stock Motorcycle entry I would be upset by the reduced amount of television exposure of my corporate name because of the limited screen time of qualifying coverage.

Please, post your opinions...

Howdy
I've said for the last several years Tony P needs to retire. He has lost a step just as I have.

Man you are seeing the sights, doing some real traveling :thumbsup:

thanks for sharing

Just got home today after doing the western swing. Me and a buddy (he passed last year from C just 2 weeks after we went to Indy) have been going to all the NHRA national event races all over the country for several years now. We hit a different track every year and go to Indy every year. Guess I'm on my own now. One place we really wanted to hit was Englishtown but didn't make before it closed.

One advantage of working for an airline is free travel.

Tony's OK he's not as good as Brian for sure

His brother, Cruze
(as much as I like the guy, been doing it forever, former champ
& he's a fellow Californian & a Diehard Raiders fan, driving a Dodge F/C)
"he is the one that should probably retire", albeit that'd be one less car too
that, they/NHRA can't hardly fill the ladder now
but does get his sponsors 'Snap On'
has some cool paint schemes & wraps like the 250 America celebration stuff...
Get exposure out there qualifying 3-4 rds qual. & 1st rd,
before he usually gets put on the trailer, smoking the tires, or blown up
or not making a complete pass, occasionally he makes a miracle run,
all that $$$ spent, from a former champ 20-30 years ago, wasted...

albeit they rarely have 16 cars in F/C or any of the pro classes anymore
.
.
.
.
.
.
Tony Schumacher
is a huge disappointment on track for a former 8 time Champ in T/F
when his dad was still alive...

& they/NHRA & the announcers are obsessed with Tony Stewart & Leah
get a crapload of airtime
* If I were a sponsor of either a Pro Stock car or Pro Stock Motorcycle entry I would be upset by the reduced amount of television exposure of my corporate name because of the limited screen time of qualifying coverage.

Yeah I'm with ya' on that,
sucks FS1 or big FOX Misson Food Series, they show near
2 hrs of fuel cars running 1,000 ft crap, of T/F & F/C in Qual. or Ilim. rds
& 10 min. blow thru of P/S & P/SM, at the end of the shows,
sad stuff

Budnicks 92 Trans Am 540ci N20 Outlaw Pro-Stock Sac. Raceway early 90s #1a AI sharpened.png

They should do a completely separate show 1/2 hr dedicated to Pro-stock cars
all the Pro's that who still run the real 1/4 mile
& 1/2 Hr dedicated to Pro-stock Motorcycles & along with like another
1/2 hr of Pro-Mod (they do have a week or 2 later usually)
but air it the same DAMN day...
But they won't the networks don't care about any of that...
Or what we/or I want...

Even the Sportsman's series has their own dedicated show,
albeit not very good but Bruno & Brian are pretty good
& shows a week or 2-3 weeks later
again it's mainly TA/FC & TA/D (Top Alcohol Funny cars & Dragsters)
that's now mainly injected nitro N/A cars now...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
IMHFO, nobody cares about...
Even when I was racing sometimes 50 weeks a year, doing a lot of match racing
some weeks 4-5 times in the week at different tracks out west
Wed. Thurs. Fri. brackets, Sat. T&T, & week ends points races within 1,200-ish miles from home
or Nostalgia Racing, or IHRA & NHRA racing...

The announcers are the least of the problem...
The content & formatting, IMO is a huge failure...
I liked it better on ESPN2 (I hate ESPN (libs) with a passion too)
with 2 good guys calling it, Bill Stephens & Mike Dunn was great
or the old Nashville Network, Steve Evans & the others (now dead)

The coverage of the Pro Stock classes has gotten pathetic at best. Those guys work just as hard to get sponsorship as the fuel cars and get about a third of the tv time. At the races now whenever the fuel classes are done most of the spectators leave the stands because there won't be any big explosions or crashes from the Pro Stock or sportsman racers, even though the races are closer.
I agree, Tony doing the broadcast is bad. He was really terrible when he started but improved to just being bad. Brian Lohnes and Mike Dunn were the best at coverage I thought. I really was upset when Mike left to go to IHRA, but he's a racer and I think he didn't get along with what NHRA was pushing down our throats so he left.

Send the NHRA an email and complain about the coverage like I did to this address: nhra@nhra.com

They seem to respond to email when they receive it, as I had a ticket issue at the Southern Nationals in GA this spring and they fixed the issue immediately after I emailed them.
