Finally got tired of watching the temp gauge creep over 230 in traffic. Bought the car with a small alum rad that didn't fit right and wouldn't cool the car. I bought a new 26" Champion 3 row unit to install in place of the factory sized 22".Before you purists cringe, remember this car has been modified and altered before I got it and I am not trying to put it back original, just upgrade and make it a nice dependable top down cruiser. That being said, I cut out about 3 1/2" on the passengers side support and took a piece of1/4" x 1 1/2" flat stock and cut a piece to fit in below the top rail and the lower support. I welded the piece to the edge of the new opening and top and bottom supports. The result is stronger than the factory bracket. With a factory shroud and new 180 stat, this should take care of the cooling needs and the addition of A/C in the future.

Interesting approach for all of us 22" big block radiator users. I'm curious to see how the factory shroud lines up with a stock fan blade unless you are planning to use an electric fan.

If it goes as planned the shroud should line up. From what I read the only differance is on the passengers side. I will measure the offset on the shroud tonight, I've got a factory 26" in the 67 Belvedere. If by chance it don't work the radiator came with 2-12" fans, but I would rather just run the driven fan and shroud.
