So getting ready to order a driveshaft for my 67 GTX clone with a 440,4-speed, Dana. Elsewhere on these forums I see the length is 50.96 center to center? OEM is 1310 u joints, correct?
They were 1330 from the factory, but unless it is an untouched 66 or 67 dana it probably won't be. Itwould have been a 7290 on a 68 up, originally. I would also make my own measurement of the length needed for my car.
This is a picture of my 66 Satellite weight on wheels. I have a short rear trans seal and remember trans shaft sticks out of tailshaft 1" to 1.125", the center front u-joint is 3.75" from aluminum end of tailshaft.
In the drawing post #5 take the 38.13" minus 34.39"= 3.74" that gives location of center of front u-joint center. All you need to do measure from center of Dana yoke to the tailshaft minus 3.75" gives you the center to center driveshaft. Notice I didn't measure the seal. You might have a tough time finding a 1330 yoke. You could have a driveshaft made with 1350 u-joint on both ends but run a 1350/1330 combination u-joint to hook up with the Dana assuming it's a 1330 u-joint, measure cup size 1.0625". If cup size is 1.125" 7290 u-joint.
